Sefton Access Controls
Overview
We are updating our policy around barriers to make walking, cycling, and wheeling more accessible.
Barriers are bits of infrastructure that limit vehicles using a path. These often take the form of bollards and chicanes but also include other types such as A-frames, kissing gates and drop boxes.
The policy will remove barriers that block paths, starting with leisure routes like the Coastal Path, Cheshire Lines and along the canal paths.
For areas with high anti-social behaviour, barriers like bollards and chicanes will be considered that are still accessible for cyclists, wheelchair users, and prams.
