School Aged Childcare Survey for Parents and Carers
Thank you for taking part in this survey. Your views will help Sefton Council understand what childcare families need.
What information do we collect?
We collect:
- Your email address
- Your IP address (the internet address used to complete the survey)
- The first part of your postcode (for example, L20 or PR8)
- Equality information, if you choose to provide it
- Your survey answers
Why do we collect this information?
We use this information to:
- Understand the childcare needs of families in Sefton
- Check if enough childcare places are available
- Identify any gaps in childcare services
- Meet our legal duty to review childcare provision each year
- Understand who is taking part in the survey and make sure different groups are represented
How will we use your information?
Your survey answers will be combined with responses from other people and childcare providers.
We will not publish your name, email address or any information that could identify you.
IP addresses are collected to help us identify duplicate responses. They will be deleted once responses have been checked.
The first part of your postcode helps us understand which areas of Sefton people live in. This information will be deleted after the survey report has been completed.
How long will we keep your information?
Your information will be stored securely and handled in line with UK data protection laws.
Personal information collected through this survey will be deleted within two years.
Email addresses, IP addresses, postcode information and equality monitoring information will be deleted once they are no longer needed for analysing the survey and producing the final report.
What is the legal basis for using your information?
Sefton Council uses this information under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). This means we are carrying out a task in the public interest as part of our official duties.
The law requires councils to:
- Work to make sure there are enough childcare places for children aged 0 to 14, and up to 18 for disabled children
- Support parents who work, study or are training for work
- Produce a yearly report about childcare availability
Who will we share your information with?
We will not share your personal information with any external organisations.
Any reports produced from this survey will use anonymous information only.
Your personal information will not be transferred outside the UK.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Ask how your information is being used
- Correct information that is wrong
- Ask for information to be deleted where appropriate
- Object to how your information is processed in some circumstances
- Make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
