Families First Partnership (FFP)
The Families First Partnership (FFP) is a government-led program aimed at reforming children’s social care in England by prioritising earlier intervention, strengthening multi-agency collaboration, and keeping children safely within their families.
The key features of Children’s Social Care Reforms
The Children’s Social Care Reforms aim to create a more proactive, family-focused system that supports children earlier and more effectively.
Central to the reforms are three key features:
- Family Help – a streamlined, multi-agency offer that provides the right support before problems escalate.
- Family Group Decision Making – placing families at the heart of decisions through structured, empowering conversations.
- Multi-Agency Child Protection Teams (MACPT) – integrated teams that work together around the child, sharing responsibility and building trusted relationships.
The reforms focus on reducing complexity, strengthening early help, and making the system more relational, responsive, and trauma-informed.
