Help Us Name Our New Food Waste Trucks!

Overview

An image of a lorry with the words Food Waste written on them

We are calling on Sefton residents and school pupils to help us name our brand-new fleet of food waste collection vehicles.

These shiny new trucks will hit the road when weekly food waste collections begin across Sefton in Autumn 2026. And we want each one to have its own unique name and personality.

Whether you’re a pun master, a recycling champion, or just love a bit of fun, we’d love to hear your ideas.

You could be inspired by a celebrity or pop culture like Paddy the Caddy, Kate Binslet.

It could be something funny such as Peels on Wheels, Bin Appetit.

Or even something that is themed - maybe your favourite historical figure and it can be descriptive, such as Ada Lovewaste or The Compost Crusader.

How to Get Involved

We’re only looking for creative, family friendly names with a food waste or recycling theme.

The winning names will be proudly displayed on the vehicles, and winners will be invited for a special photo opportunity with their named truck!

  • Competition opens: Monday 23rd February
  • Competition closes: Monday 23rd March
  • Winners announced: May 2026

Why your views matter

Why It Matters.

This activity forms part of our new wider Cleaner, Greener Together campaign, which encourages residents to have their say alongside the Council’s ongoing work to create a cleaner greener borough.

We want our residents to get involved with the new food waste collection service we’re introducing later this year, and a fun way they can do that is to help us name our vehicles. Names must have a food waste or recycling theme, and I look forward to reading all the entries. Thank you!

Cllr Peter Harvey, Sefton’s Cabinet Member for Cleansing and Street Scene.

At the end of the survey you will be asked if you want to give an email address so that you can receive a copy of your response. You do not have to do this. The email address is only used to send the email to you from Your Sefton Your Say. The email address will not be stored with the responses and Sefton Council will not have access it, unless you have given your email address as part of the survey.
