Overview

We are publising this questionaire to identify the views of working parents and carers in taking up funded hours of childcare in a nursery or childminder setting. Parents and carers may choose to access all, part or none of their funded entitlement as detailed below:

  • from April 2024, most working parents of 2-year-olds can access 15 hours per week
  • from September 2024, most working parents of children aged 9 months up to 3-years-old can access 15 hours per week
  • from September 2025, most working parents of children aged 9 months up to 3-years-old can access 30 hours free childcare per week

Please note that to be elligible parents must work more than 16 hours each per week or claim certain benefits.You will not be elligible if a parent earns for than £100,000 adjusted net outcome. Elligibility for funded childcare entitlements can be found here:

Why your views matter

Your views are important to us as they will help us decide how to assess if there is enough childcare provision in Sefton and plan new childcare services and ensure places meet the needs for local families. 

All responses will be only be used to help us assess the need for future childcare in Sefton and you will not be identified in any way in the reporting of this survey. 

We estimate that this survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. The survey will close on 29th February 2024.

Please note that at the end of this survey, before submitting your results, you will be asked if you want to provide an email address so that you can receive a PDF copy of your response.  This is completely optional.  The email address is only used to send the email to you via the online consultation system provided by Delib as the data processor.  The email address will not be stored with the responses and Sefton Council will not have access to it.  You may be asked for your email address as part of the survey and if so, there will be a Privacy Notice explaining why we are asking for this and you can choose whether to provide your email address or not on this basis. 

What happens next

The results on this survey will be used internally to map potential demand for places across Sefton. This will inform Sefton's Childcare Sufficiency Assessment 2023/2024.
