Your Day Your Say Day Opportunities Coproduction Group
Overview
Welcome to Your Day Your Say - Day Oportunities Coproduction Group.
Sefton Council commissions day opportunities at venues across Sefton. This means they purchase or buy a services designed to support adults with a variety of needs.
These services are for individuals with:
- learning disabilities
- autism
- physical disabilities
- sensory impairments
- older people
- those with dementia
- or mental health conditions.
The goal is to help people live fulfilling lives by providing opportunities for social interaction, skill development, and community engagement.
Together, we want to shape services that:
- Support people to achieve their goals - whether that’s learning something new, finding work, using technology, or simply doing things that bring joy.
- Help people build friendships and relationships, and feel connected to their communities.
- Listen to people and their carers about what they want, and support them to stay as independent as possible.
- Provide meaningful opportunities for people with profound and complex disabilities - both in buildings and out in the community.
We’re guided by the Care Act 2014, which says that if someone is eligible for support, we must provide it in a way that meets their needs. That means offering a range of day opportunities that reflect people’s choices and aspirations.
Adult Social Care has a vision for the future. It’s about:
- Seeing what people can do, and who can help when needed.
- Supporting choice and control.
- Promoting health and wellbeing.
- Encouraging people to take part in community activities, volunteering, and work.
To make this vision real, we need your help by being part of a coproduction group called Your Day Your Say - working to make day opportunities that are what people want and need.
This group brings together:
- People who access day opportunities.
- Family members and carers.
- People who deliver day opportunities.
We want to keep talking, listening, and working together to co-design services that truly reflect what people want and need.
The group will meet every 6 months (2 times a year) for 2 hours each meeting. There may be other times we need to meet but joining this group will not be a big commitment but it will make a real difference to day opportunities and services in Sefton.
Why your views matter
Sefton has been asking people who use day oportunities, their families and those who provide services what they think. In September and October 2025 there is a consultation to ask people what they want from day services.
When the consultation ends the Your Day Your Say coproduction group will use what they have been told to inform making services for the future.
